Baba needs to be driven

What has happened to our celebrated left-back Celestine Babayaro?

The poor boy is so far down the pecking order now that even Gallas and Bridge are well ahead of him.

Perhaps he needs a kick up the whatsit.

Captain John Terry revealed in his programme notes on Saturday, that the Nigerian Olympic gold medalist gets to training by car - but has someone else do the driving.

Now does that mean that our boy can rest in anticipation of throwing his considerable talent and perspiration into training, and so impress Jose to boot?

Oh yes, Baba is in the last year of his contract - I'm sure he is doing everything possible to get another one.

Speaking in one of the London evening papers, Baba speaks out about his current position: He said: "I'm looking forward to playing my 200th game for Chelsea in the next couple of weeks and will definitely stay here until the end of the season. I'm flattered that several clubs are interested in me, but have no wish to leave Chelsea.

"I'm very happy at the club and want to put them into a position where they have to offer me a new contract. If I have to leave in the summer I'll be very sad and would be crazy to go in the middle of a season in which we could win several trophies."
Baba is Chelsea longest serving player, having signed seven years ago.
Several clubs have been in for him on loan deals including Crystal Palace, West Brom and Middlesbrough.
