Baba in line for WBA debut

Baba Rahman is in the frame to start Sunday's crucial Premier League game against West Bromwich Albion.

The 21-year-old Ghana defender, signed from Augsburg, has only just met his new team-mates but could soone be partnering the like of John Terry and Gary Cahill in the Blues rearguard.

With Branislav Ivanovic facing the axe after a string of below-par performances, Baba, as he likes to be called, could start at left-back in place of Cesar Azpilecueta who could move across to the right-back berth in place of the Serbian.

Jose Mourinho has not seen his side win any of the past sevem matches in 90 minutes and Sunday's defeat at Manchester City will have put even greater pressure on the club's board to provide him with even greater defensive cover, with a bid of £37million expected to be lodged later today for Everton centre-back John Stones.

With the need for further attacking cover - Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy are too alike and not serious cover for Diego Costa, the Blues could see a bid of £15million for Charlie Austin from QPR  accepted by their west London neighbours.

A sneaky bid to nab Pedro from Barcelona is also on the cards but will require a little bit of stealth by the club's top brass - I'm sure they can do it, don't you?
