Aurelien Tchouameni explains why he rejected rival offers to join Real Madrid

Aurelien Tchouameni has confirmed that he rejected offers from a number of sides in favour of living out his dream of joining Real Madrid.

The 22-year-old had attracted interest from Chelsea, Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, and 90min understands he agreed personal terms with all three, but Tchouameni ended up moving to the Santiago Bernabeu in a deal worth €100m.

In his presentation on Tuesday, Tchouameni confirmed he had plenty of offers on the table but insisted he did not need long to accept a switch to Real.

"This is a dream, to sign for the best club in the world," he told a press conference.

"It is true that I had the opportunity to choose clubs, but as soon as I knew that Madrid was interested, I did not hesitate for a second. I want to leave a mark on football history and there is no better team for that than Real Madrid.

"I had already talked to other teams, but in my head, I was waiting for the call from Madrid. And when it came, I didn't hesitate for a moment. I talked to my family and agent to find the best deal. Being here is wonderful."

Tchouameni also revealed that Kylian Mbappe, who snubbed his own move to Real in favour of staying with PSG, tried to convince him to move to the French capital as well.

"Kylian decided to stay in Paris and knew that I would be leaving Monaco," he explained. "He wanted to know if I could go to PSG but I told him that my first option was Real Madrid and he understood perfectly.

"I'm at the best team in the world and I'm not afraid of the competition. I have to show my quality and I'm really looking forward to it."
