Andre Onana Admits He Wants Barcelona Return Amid Chelsea & Tottenham Interest

Ajax goalkeeper André Onana says he 'will go back' to former club Barcelona if the opportunity presents itself at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting goalkeepers in Europe during his five-year spell in Amsterdam, making 178 appearances for Ajax in a successful period in their modern history.

Onana only has two years left on his contract at the Johan Cruyff Arena however, and he's expected to leave at the end of the season.

Reports from Catalan outlet Sport and French newspaper L’Equipe (via Sport Witness) state how Onana has received a call from Tottenham ahead of the summer transfer window, while Chelsea are also interested.

Paris Saint-Germain were also mentioned among the clubs who are keeping track of Onana's future, but the 24-year-old has only addressed the links with his former club Barcelona, where he's being tipped to replace Norberto Neto as Marc-André ter Stegen's understudy.

"It’s hard to say because with FC Barcelona, I am still in very good relations with the president, the coaches," Onana told Canal+ Afrique (via the Mirror).

"As I said earlier, Barça is my home. If I have to go back, I will go back. But today we are still far from it. I’m the Ajax goalkeeper and we’ll see what happens at the end of the season."

"I only take care of the ball game, what happens at the stadium. The rest are my agents who manage."

A move to Barcelona would rest on Neto's future at the club, but it seems the club have their priorities set elsewhere for the time being, notably on signing Lautaro Martínez as Luis Suárez's successor at the Camp Nou.

Chelsea and Spurs' interest likely comes with a view of seeing Onana as a starting goalkeeper, with Kepa Arrizabalaga and Hugo Lloris both disappointing for their respective clubs this season.
