Alex Telles Switches to Agent With Chelsea Ties as Porto Hold Firm on Asking Price

Porto left-back Alex Telles is believed to have joined up with agent Pini Zahavi, who is a close friend of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

Zahavi helped broker Abramovich's purchase of the Blues back in 2003, and Chelsea have regularly looked to use the agent's services ever since.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with Telles ahead of this summer, and it looks like their pursuit might have just been made a little easier as Record note that Telles has left his former agent to link up with Zahavi.

Unsurprisingly, the report states that Chelsea are the favourites to land the 27-year-old, who is set to enter the final year of his contract after rejecting Porto's offer of an extension.

Having lost influential players like Héctor Herrera and Yacine Brahimi for free in recent years, Porto are adamant that they will not allow Telles to walk in 2021, so there have been suggestions that the Brazilian could be available for a bargain.

However, Record believe that the Portuguese side are still holding out for as close to his €40m (£35m) release clause as possible, which normally wouldn't be a problem for Chelsea. Unfortunately, with so many other targets, shelling out for a left-back might be an issue.

It has been confirmed to 90min that Chelsea will prioritise spending heavily on a centre-back and a striker this summer, so they would only spend big on a left-back if they felt as though there was enough money left over.

That's a definite possibility, depending on which other targets Chelsea focus on and how much they can raise through offloading the deadwood in the squad, but the primary goal for the summer window is to strengthen in other positions.

22-year-old Basel defender Blás Riveros has previously been mentioned, while Chelsea have also enquired about Southampton's Matt Targett on their search for a cheaper alternative, but Telles remains a preferred option if the Blues can negotiate a discount.
