Addicks Keen On Parker

Curbishley was distraught to lose Parker in the first place, after the midfielder forced a move to Stamford Bridge. The blow was softened by a £10 million transfer fee though.

However, since Claudio Ranieri left in the summer, Parker has not started a competitive match under Mourinho. Indeed, he has only appeared once as a sub, coming on against Man Yoo on the opening day.

Charlton boss Alan Curbishley said: "Mourinho is looking at having a replacement for every position and that is where Scott is at the moment. It's disappointing for him but it's part and parcel of joining the big clubs.

"They can handle the wages and they're not bothered by fees. They have squads that have to compete in Europe and they need 23 top-class players.

"We are in a position where we didn't use all our money in the summer so I still have a bit to spend. Something could happen in the transfer window but we will have to see on that one."
