Mourinho's Rants: CSKA Moscow (a)

After an impressive first half showing, we held on in the second half and kept yet another clean sheet.

"We defended like lions to go home with another clean sheet. It was a high intensity match with two teams playing at their highest level.

"We did not change our attitude for this game and will do the same against Paris St Germain and Porto in the next two games.

"To defend as well as we did, we need all 11 players to be playing well."

Arjen Robben played a blinder and bagged the goal that put us through. It was a delightful finish after a clever one-two with Damien Duff. And who said they couldn't play together!

"We missed him for the two months he was out but nobody spoke about him. But he is an outstanding player," he said.

"He's an incredible player and maybe people thought it was impossible for Damien Duff and Robben to play together but it is not. It makes life very difficult for the opponents."

Robben added: "I am really pleased with my form at the moment and I feel really strong. I am happy to have scored my first goal for the club but it is more important that the team won.

"When you reach the next round, you know that it will be more difficult but our confidence is good.

"We can only grow now. We really played well in the first half against a strong opponent.

"It was difficult for us to control the game in the second half but I think our organisation was very good and we created some chances also."

Next up is a 2nd v 3rd encounter with high-flying Everton this Saturday. Hopefully we can burst their bubble!
